Hand-turned Plasma domes are individually manufactured by Glassfusion, a company with over 200 years experience in producing laboratory scientific and engineering glassware. Highly skilled glass blowers blend a precise combination of rare noble gasses inside each sphere which react with the energy field provided by a sophisticated package of electronics in the base. The result is plasma - a term derived from the Greek word meaning "living fluid" - which is an electrically charged high temperature ionised gas.
An electronic wave form generator and frequency synthesiser in the control circuitry generate an interplay of electromagnetic waves within the plasma which crash against the glass in a storm of brilliantly coloured light. The resultant rays are hypnotic yet so strangely alive they react to touch or sound. On placing a hand against the glass the fantastic illusion of capturing a cosmic phenomenon and manipulating the laws of natural physics is experienced.
